Looked at 2 motors last night as the 200hp Johnson we tested on my boat wasnt worth the time we took to mount it.Both motors are at the same price. OceanPro is newer but has a 25" long shaft which is part of what I found to be the problem with the 200hp. Sat to low in the water made 2 nice roostertails though.. The Evenrude is a 20 shaft which I believe to be the direction I need to go. Could not find much info on the forum on the Evenrude 150XP model.Any issues that may be a concern? I like the idea of newer motor but I dont want to have to modify my transom to get the motor where it should be.

Thanks

The XP is a crossflow design. A great motor. The 95 is a 60 degree looper. A fantastic design. It makes a lot of torque and is quite easy on the fuel tank (as long as its set up right). Check #1 cylinder closely for water intrusion.

You can put a 25" motor on a 20" transom, all you need is a manual jackplate like the ones Bobs Machine sells. It can be as little as 3" setback or converted to 5" and has 5-6" adjustment up and down.

Good luck!

Good luck!

200 is a 1977. Seems to run fine. But still needs a little TLC. Boat is rated for 150 Max and I have some concern with that.I spent 2 weeks cleaning and painting the motor so it looks brand new.

I ran it earlier this week on the boat but don't have that warm fuzzy feeling. After about 20 minutes it ran a little rough and started stalling. Carbs were rebuilt, I'm sure most of it is basic bugs. But original deal I made was that the motor would be gone through, mounted and ready to go. I spent all last 2 seasons trying to work the bugs out of the old motor (1974 115 Evenrude) and got fed up. I dont want to do the end up with a duplicate sinario.

The Ocean pro runs like a bear as I have been out on the boat he has it mounted to (23 ft Mako). I spoke with him this morning and I think thats the route I'm going to go.

Thanks
