Guess all this makes a pretty good case for doing most of your own maintenance and repair work yourself!, if you have the time, tools and skills. I expect it's hard for repair shops to find, recruit and retain really top-notch mechanics, so when you take your boat in there, it's just a crap-shoot who's working on it. Good luck and sorry for your troubles!

i know what you mean. I have always done my own oil changes but have always used them for water pumps, valve tappet, etc
