Bf 225 Lower Unit Disassemble

Trying to change main shaft from 30" to 25" and got everything apart and can't get the main shaft out, took the nut off of it inside the lower unit and the gear won't come off and the shaft won't come out. please help am I missing something? or do I need a bigger hammer? mike

Put a HEAT GUN!!!not a torch, on the pinion gear while turning the shaft and watch that gear fall off.Do not exceed 180 degrees.

It takes a special tools to do.
