I have a 2006 Honda B15 and in the past have had nothing but problems with it and I thought this year was going to be different with it but apparently nothing has changed. I go to get it ready for the season today and what do you know it wont start. After about 10 minutes of cranking, it started for about 30 seconds and sounded horrible and cut off. I have had many problems with the carb on this motor so I took it back off again for think the 20th time since I have had it and it looked really clean. So I put it back on and took off the fuel filter and it was spotless. After doing that I was not able to get it to fire at all...Any ideas? I am seriously about to just sell it and buy a mercury again.

Re: BF15 Wont Start

Don't give up on the honda Merc. All of the (cleaner burning? motors) have very small passages that get gummed up. I had the same problem with an 05 Mercury 15 this season. It would start but not idle. I'm sorry I don't know how a 06 honda is setup but I think it has an electric choke. I know that you don't want to go to the dealer but you either have to get educated about your system or find a good honest dealer that doesn't charge $100 dolars an hour. It took a couple of tries to fix mine but now iy purrs like a kitten! Carbs aren't that hard to fix, and you have to take good care of your fuel and the system that feeds it.
