BF9.9 impeller vane blockage

I replaced my Honda 9.9 HP's impeller but discovered that at some point one of the vanes disappeared into the engine. The water pump now works fine but the engine overheats when idling (and the tell tale water runs hot!). What do I need to do to fish out the rubber impeller vane? Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: BF9.9 impeller vane blockage

Will need to check water pump passages going upwards, start with removing thermostat, probably it's there ? Literally "fishing impeller vanes" won't help, it's a water pipe, crank case, cylinder head dismantle appart issue to find broken vanes. Probably could blow compressed air from WP lower tube upwards and hope that missing pieces are deposited inside thermostat housing if first removal attempt was not good at all. Will need new gaskets if dismantling.
