Found an 18 ft. lund fiberglass deep v in very good condition for almost free. It has no motor, but I have a 1971 60 hp. I just want to use this boat to run out to the end of the jetties and fish, it's about 5 miles. If I run something like a pontoon prop in the 13 pitch range will it plane? or will I stress the motor too much? Thanks.

Never know until you try it, so go for it. Free stuff is fun, but can get awful expensive if you let it.

I bet if you prop it right you should be able to get it to plane. <br />As long as you don't lug it or over rev it, running wide open won't hurt it.
