Rumours of my demise are greatly exagarated!:D

Clark, this is a great idea. I don't really see a need for doing 2009 though. Just nominate some folks for 2010 and let er rip!

The two weeks I just spent at the lake was more than enough recognition for all the hard work we put into the Liquid Limo.

And I'm not trying to steal your thunder, but here's another idea.

Everyone submits their favorite picture of their boat. We all vote for twelve of the pictures, and we make a Starcraft Calander. Have them printed and folks can order them thru paypal or whatever.

The group my son used to race with did this each year and it was really popular.

NB - you got screwed at tinstock and then your motor blew up....you've earned the 2009 honor just for that

How did the new motor combo work on vacation? I am finally getting over trouble anxiety of going out as the BNL (bare naked lady) is proving to be reliable..

Those 4 bangers aint exactly finely honed precision machines though....think a V8 would be too much?

I think by Septemeber I'll have the award ready - Love the calendar idea - so easy to do that these days

Clarke, you're right about those GM 4 bangers. Check out the LL thread for some play by play.

uh, what about a small block Chebby IS a "precision honed machine", or anything other than a pushrod, stamped rocker arm, carbureted, cast iron lump? i.e., they're no improvement, just more of the same crudity. and the motor only weighs over 150 lbs more than your lump (500+ vs 320ish).

The chevy four banger IS half of a small block chevy. Good motors imho, all of them.

they're Appropriate Technology for marine duty. compare the volvo 2.3....a far better engineered motor designed by a bunch of people who build heavy trucks.....stuff like huge bearing area and double fan belts running the critical stuff.....and yet i don't think they last any longer or have much better a rep in marine duty.

you may be right on the 1/2 a small block for the 3 liter.....i think bore n stroke figures are very close to 400 SBC. (i know that's where OMC gets their big fours....1/2 of a 429/460 Ford.) the 2.5, OTOH, is actually 2/3 of the old Chevy Stovebolt six like what Kainon has

Only if you want the trophy to be in the way all the time, expensive to fix and require more moving parts than really necessary.:p:D

Impressive, between the two of us we could tear it up, down, sideways, and then haul it away. Not bad for a couple of almost geezers.

My next truck (when/if my boat is done) will be a bumpside (67-72) Ford F-100.

Get a beer, we'll talk women next.

Sorry for the hijack guys, nothing gets me going like cars/trucks/Starcraft Boats:D

NB,
If that is true, then why do we hang ours out in the open for all the world to see and the i/o guys keep theirs covered up in a box? ;) :p
