I have a 1993 175 Evinrude Spitfire. Yesterday (2nd time out) this year I had a oil low alarm. The boat started losing power and dropped down to very low RPM. I was on a large area lake and tried to get it back to the dock, about 1.5 miles. The boat stopped and would not restart. The starter sounded like it locked up. I got towed back in and today I pulled the oil reservoir. (it appeared full) until I got it out from behind the battery. It had about a 1/2 gallons of water in the bottom with the new fresh oil I had added and thought I filled to the top. I drained the oil hose and the mixer on the front of the motor.
I pulled the plugs and and tried to start it after adding oil to the fuel in the tank to make sure it was getting lube. The starter will crank now but just for a short time before it stops. In gear I can only turn the prop by hand about 1 1/2 turns before it stops. It will then reverse 1 1/2 turns and stops. My guess is I seized the engine. Does anyone else have a opinion.
