My old boat had a 23 gallon galvanized tank that looks good from the outside but had a bunch of rotten fuel in it. I blew it all out and put in a couple of gallons of fresh and drove the boat for 250 miles (on a trailer, that is) and blew the fuel out It came out looking as bad as the first go round. So, I cut the tank out today. (It was all foamed in). Now I'm wondering if it can be cleaned or if I'd do better to buy a new tank (not a rich man) or buy about three six gallon cans. That way I could mix just as much gas as I planned to use, and a little more, and not worry about the gas in the tank getting stale or having to add Stabil to it. Looking for your thoughts. If I keep the tank, how do I clean it? It does have a drain and I shot a bunch of PB Blaster but so far can't break it loose.
