bigfoot 60 problem

1997 2 stroke 60 runs fine for about 3 hours, then stalls. It will restart, but then only run up to 2800 RPM's. Pushing trottle beyond that will stall it out. Next day, same thing...runs fine at 4500 RPM's for a few hours and acts up again. Seems very consitent. Gas cap venting is fine and primer bulb seems normal. Could something electrical be breaking down? Seems like a long time to run so well before it acts up.

Recommend trying a portable gas tank/take fuel sample check for water/condensation/debris. Use known good portable gas tank with gas line attached directly to on engine fuel filter. Make sure all connections are tight.

I can certainly try that/test that, but it is strange that it runs perfect for about 3 hours before acting up.
