Bildge Blowers

I have a 89 Bayliner capri 1950. I need to install a bildge blower or two. The problem is that the vents and duct are still their. I dont know if im suposed to have two or one. All the forms ive found are split. One says use both vents to blow. The other say to use one to suck out the fuel fumes and the other is for fresh air. If that is so then do i need to have one suck and the other to blow. Any thing would be great

You will be replacing the existing Blower that is somewhere in the ductwork already. One is enough.

A bilge blower BlOWS OUT, Never IN! NEVER!
From the point of view of the bilge, it is a Vacuum Fume Sucker.

Gasoline fumes are heavier than you think. 3-4 times heavier than the surrounding air.
Thinks of it like a glass of water and a straw.
Is is much easier to empty the glass by sucking on the bottom of the glass with the straw than blowing into it.

Ok. Thank you. Their is no blower in the boat i guess its missing. All that is there is the two ducts. There not conected to any thing. I have a 90 cfm on the way i hope that is enough. My engine compartment is small. Its a 2.3l 4cl.

Just to add......one set of louvers are pointed to bow and are for bringing in the air (No blower)....the other is pointed to stern for the blower to suck out fumes....

A 1989 boat would have had a blower. Someone removed yours.
Is the dash switch and wiring still there?
You will need enough ductwork to extend to below the engine to within 3-6 inches of the keel.
A 90cfm will be sufficient.

the 'suck' needs to suck at the lowest point in the bilge

I went out and looked and both vents are pointing toward the bow. I could prob switch one around. Should i do that. amd as far as the wiring goes i've had to rewire most of every thing. Ill have to wire that up as well.

Turn the louver on the one the blower will use to face the stern. My blower and duct work is on the port side so that louver faces the stern.
