Bilge blowers not required?

Anyone know why bilge blowers are not required on our 'skis? All inboard and I/O boats have 'em, even if they are fuel injected. I went to charge my two Honda's today. They are stored out in the shade. When I removed the seats to get to the batteries, the gas fumes were strong. Hell, on a boat you may be a little ways from the explosion instead of straddling it like we do! On my Mercruiser you run the blower for 4-5 minutes before you start it.

I always removed my seat before taking the tie down straps off. I put the seat back on just prior to starting the engine. That gave it time to let any fumes clear out.

When you fuel them they recommend taking the seat off as well. You might want to start looking for a leak if you smelled fumes....you shouldn't smell fuel.....somethings not right.

Thanks for all the replys. I'll check my manual. I always do my after-run maintenance when I get back so it's ready to ride next time, but I will take a quick look before now. I think it was so damn hot-it's been over 100 for the month and 105-108 the last few days and the gas evaporates. I had them with seats on, and under a cover in an open shed.
