Mine is a 2008 1802 WA...for the first time I'm keeping the boat in the water this year. The 1802 does not have scuppers so when it rains all of the water goes down into the bilge. My question is how long should I expect the battery to last with the bilge pump pumping water out? I find myself running up to the lake checking on the boat after heavy rains. I have a feeling I'm being overly paranoid. Any thoughts? I keep the battery turned off when not on the boat to preserve all battery power. The bilge is wired directly to the battery. Just don't want to show up and find the boat at the bottom of the lake.

A battery in good condition should not run down just pumping out rain water. The float on my old boat stuck on and after the water was all pumped out it burned itself up. What lake is the Boat on? Alum Creek?

Re: Bilge Bump 1802WA

I just purchased a 2004 1802 WA - Spent the day cleaning all the drain holes out. Also cleaned the bilge area in the cabin after finding water in front of the bilge pump & found the wood on the underside of the cabin floor - wet & slimy.

I treated all with a mold killer & placed a fan to dry everything out. Not sure how water gets into this area, as I found no drainage holes. I will be corking up the drain hole that is located above the fish box in hopes this will prevent water flowing back into this area.

I also will be docking my boat, but before I do I will add another battery & an additional bilge pump in the rear stern bilge area.

Do you have a full mooring cover? I probably will have one made as I believe it's a good idea to keep fiberglass covered & this having a waterproof cover will help tremendously with water collecting in the bilge area.

This 1802WA is built like a tank - reminds me of a Boston Whaler I had previously & I believe for the money nothing else comes close.

yes- the boat is actually on alum creek. you familiar w/ the area?

don't have a full cover on the boat- just a cockpit cover basically. i know that would solve a lot of the water concerns but i was hoping to avoid that just to have one less thing to store when going out- especially over night.

my 1802 has two pumps-one under the step in the cuddy and a 2nd one in the stern under the engine transom. not sure what the one up front is for. can't imagine the boat ever filling up w/ enough water to make that one run.

I live in Dublin. My father lives on Buckeye Lake so I leave my boat there. I just bought a 2000 Trophy 2052 and sold my Chris Craft I bought new in 85. I hope to bring the Trophy to Alum Creek a few times this summer.
