Well I had my boat out saturday and the bilge was working fine the first half of the day. We stopped for lunch and it started raining, when I got out to the boat I turned the bilge on and nothing happened? I do know the fuse is not blown but I havent had a chance yet to check everything else yet. Any ideas? thanks

Re: bilge not running?

First idea is to find out why it leaks and fix that....

as for the bilge pump, buy a $3.99 VOM meter at Harbor Freight and see if there actually is power at the pump.
If so, replace the pump....and splurge for one with an automatic switch.
If no power at pump, check for voltage at switch.
Just do a little checking, it's pretty simple.....

but fix the leak.

my experience......97.4% of all electrical malfunctions on boats can be fixed by cleaning and tightening all the connections. get rid of the corrosion.

heck, splurge an extra $15 or so, get the autoranging digital multimeter, measure voltage, test the switches for continuity, all kinds of fun stuff.

When i first saw those $3.99 VOM's at Harbor Freight they were on sale for $2.49... I bought 10 of em. Now I have one EVERYWHERE. Never without a VOM again when you need it most, lol.

Re: bilge not running?

Small bilge pumps tend to get jammed or stuck when sand or other stuff gets sucked into them, try turning the impeller to see if thats he problem.
