bilge oil and seals

Hi everyone-- 1994 capri 1750 alpha leaking bilge oil into boat. Is there a seal kit for both the upper and lower unit that has all the seals that should be replaced? Also need to replace the drain and fill and vent o-rings. Is there a seal kit for that as well? If I wanted to have a shop (Linwood Mich. Bayliner dealer) replace the seals and bellows, what would be a ballpark price to do so? I know-- lots of questions, I appreciate any help that you could give me. Thanks.

You said your alpha drive is leaking oil into the boats bildge, correct?

If this is the case there is only two ways
(1) You have a drive oil bottle and the hose leading from the bottle to the drive is leaking, either from being cut or has become disconnected from bottle or outdrive fitting on transom.
(2) You have a damaged drive shaft seal and the oil is leaking through the bellows to the boat.

If (1) is the problem just need to find where and should be a easy fix.
If (2) need to pull the drive and have it taken apart and repaired

Seals for vent and drain on the drive are pretty cheap, about 2 bucks a piece or less. Get a bag of 10-20 would be best buy

Dealers charge around 80 to 120 an hour, your looking (my guess) 500 for parts and labor

Ok.. define 'bilge oil'... Is that gear oil or engine oil?

There is a seal kit for each of the housings of the drive. Top housing is called the 'drive-shaft housing', lower is called the 'gear housing'. Both seal kits include the vent and drain screw washers.

Word of warning.... If the oil in the bilge is drive oil, then the seal on the front of the drive-shaft housing is leaking, and that usually means some sort of repair/replacement. Very rare for the seal to fault on it's own. The yoke will be damaged/worn as well.... And if there is enough oil in the bellows to then leak into the bilge for you to notice, then the drive is basically empty.. STOP USING THE BOAT UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS SORTED OUT!!!!

Ok.. define 'bilge oil'... Is that gear oil or engine oil?

Or even trim fluid?

Several places can be the source of "oil" in the bilge. Important to identify the source before you can go about fixing it.

Thanks to all who replied. I do not have a remote bottle for the drive oil. In addition, I replaced the water pump and impeller this spring, and now there is a clunking when the engine is running in neutral. It is intermittent but substantial. The noise seems to be coming from the drive, not the engine.

Thanks Chris. I have stopped using the boat. I think I will be taking the boat into the dealer soon.
