I have a 95 bayliner capri 3.0, alpha 1.. I was going to remove my bilge pump which works fine but you have to manually turn it on for it to operate. I want something that will detect water and turn itself on just for piece of mind. Anyway I was going to swap it out with an automatic one until I realized that it would be about impossible without pulling the motor to gain access. Pulling the engine isn't a big deal but I'd rather not especially since I had it out twice this past winter and it's been running great.. Anyway is there some way to possibly wire in some kind of switch or float to my present pump that will automatically turn it on??

Go to the upper left part of this page and click on the Marine Store. Then do a search for "bilge pump switch". They have several switches you can wire into your existing pump.

Thanks.. Looks like most or all are bolted/screwed in which could make things difficult due to access,, possibly I could 3m tape one in place (3M tape is hard to beat..).. I'll see what my local west marine has to offer.. Thanks for the help..

That float switch they have can be siliconed into place ...a liberal dose of silicone on the side of the float switch, and use duct tape to temporarily position it so it doesn't slide down and you are good to go. Just need to slip a scraper or putty knife behind it to remove at a later date..make sure the float itself doesn't get siliconed shut or open
