I have a 1972 Starcraft 18' super sport v outboard. I can hear the bilge pump run but it does not pump. I had never tried it before other than to hear it run. I thought I would try taking it out to make sure nnothing is plugged. Does anyone know how this is mounted. I can feel it but not see it. I may stick the digital camera in there to see if that shows me anything. Any suggestions on how to remove or why it may not be pumping?

Re: bilge pump

This will sound stupid, but are you sure there is water in your bilge? If you can hear it run, but no water is being discharged, check the discharge line/hose to make sure it's connected and not leaking. If all that checks out, the pumps I'm familiar with typically are snapped into a base, which is screwed or glued to the hull. I'm sure there are other types of mounting designs, and I'm sure more will answer with those. If your's looks like these: http://www.iboats.com/Rule-360-500-...26054676--**********.327875292--view_id.39568 you should be all set.

Re: bilge pump

Thanks for the reply. Yes there is water. I bailed about 10 galllons out with a cup. Plan to take out of the water this weekend to check things out & give it a little cleaning. I can stick my hand in & feel it. Hose seems to be connected. Will remove batteries to see if I can get my head in there to see but not hopeful I can get a visual. I did see what you mean about the snap out pump as I looked at replacements at Walmart. was hopingsomeone had this same boat that was familiar. Thanks.
