bimini frame

I recently bought a 20' 06 Bennington.....I plan to store it in my carport for the winter.....My problem is that with my Bimini top laying all the way down, it won't quite fit in my carport....If I could remove the Bimini frame it would fit right in .....Are these frames hard to remove?...I know I would have to remove the wiring to my anchor light. But looking at the frame, it looks like there is only two places (1 on each side) that is permantly attached...the other braces "pop" in and out.....I don't want to mess up anything....It appears to be attached with phillip head screws...any advice would be appreciated...Thanks

Re: bimini frame

Yes, they come off as simply as you noted. Many boats have a disconnect plug where the frame meets the rail. If yours doesn't, cut the wires and have one installed before you re-install to facilitate the next time you need to remove the bimini.

Re: bimini frame

Pull on the wire and it should come out of the frame or rail and have a plug on it, from there you just lift the little tab on the quick release and lift it off which is probably a 2 person job.

You really can't hurt it so don't worry.

Thanks......I've got the wire unplugged but I wasn't sure whether or not anything had to be unscrewed to get the frame off.
