i have a 99 mariner 200efi with sportsmaster gearcase on .Awhile ago i hit a log real hard and had to drill the wood out off the holes.since then i am worried about rubbish in the head because my temps seem abit higher than before. is the best way to flush the head remove the leg and flush back from the thermostats? is there a better way?

Re: bits in head

If you shoved wood into the water intake hard enough to require drilling I would remove the lower unit and examine (if you go this far replace the impeller) the water pump carefully. While you have it off you can backflush it from the thermostat. Put a bucket underneath to catch whatever comes out so you can look for wood chips.
