Don't know quite how to describe this but I know it's common. where ever there is a stainless or aluminum tubing that toouches/flaps against the clear vinyl eventually I get a black make that outlines the tubing.... does that make sense? It even happens with some powdercoated aluminum..... other than wrapping the tubing (foam pipe insulation ect) is there other options? hate to spend the money on the vinyl and tubing and have it marked up....

insulating the tubing is the only way.

Couple of solutions..........

You could just use plastic polish and clean the vinyl

You could have the suppot rods painted or covered in electrical shrink wrap......

Its from the oxidation and dirt :(

I have the same problem on my enclosure curtains. It is more of a nuisance than a problem. It comes right off with Plexus.

There are velcro sleeves you can install, cut to fit or they make a plastic block that snaps onto your bimini top frame that hold the windows off of the frame.I have both on my enclosure as I didn't buy enough of the sleeves yet.

They also make white plasstic standoffs that clip to the tubing and hold isinglass away from the tubes themselves.

The brownish coloring you get is actually burning on the eisenglass from the aluminum tubing getting hot in the sun. If it's black staining that comes off, then it's usually just dirt. The burned areas on the eisenglass don't come off. Use the small snap on buffers mentioned in post #6.
