Hello- this is my first post about my first boat- I just bought a 1992 Checkmate Pulse 170 at an auction and it is in near showroom condtion BUT it doesnt run nearly as good as it looks.

It has a Black Max 135 6 cylinder with triple carbs.

I took it out last night for the first time and it acts like it is only running on 4 cylinders. I took the engine cover off and found gas running out of the air cleaner! I took the carb cover off and found gas just pouring out of the top carb when it was running.

What should I be looking for? If I need to take it to dealer I would like to at least have an idea of what to expect so I dont get ripped off. Unfortunately there is only one boat dealer/repair shop in my area and they dont have the best reputation.
Thanks for the help!

Soulds like you have a stuck float or inlet needle. You can tap on the affected carb with a screwdriver handle to shake it loose. Is also may get better on its own, after a day or so. If it doen't get better, you will need to have at least that carb cleaned/rebuilt. It is probably better to have all three cleaned and rebuilt.
