HowieDean, where do you put the trolling motor? :D Those are two bad a*s machines! What kind of top speed do you get? Do you only work on them or do you get to do some driving as well? Must be a rush!!!!!

Re: BLACK OIL dripping from prop!

That was my partner Chris Domino from Circle D Boats you saw most likely at Port Nachas Park... <br />We drag race in the ODBA.. most of our races are in Alabama and Tennesse... We race in Lake Charles in May.. you need to come over next year.. it's a pretty good show.. The yellow and black boat is Triad DR20.. we ran it in Modified Production and It uses a 2.5 liter Merc Factory Race Motor.. Not alot different from the fishing motors... Ports are different of course and Rods / bearing / crank are a lot beefer... Rules are boat has to weight a mim of 1550 pounds with fuel and driver... we were running around 138 in the quarter... I'm driving the white boat this year... it is set up to run in the Pro 120 class... This class uses the little Merc 2 liter V6 that starts life as a 135 or 150 horse Merc just like on the fishing boats... We cut / grind / polish and get about 270 hp out of them... Because of the smaller motors we get to weigh a lot less, 1150 pounds... Because the boats are so light we can only run about 105 before they blow over "like the pic above" .. what makes the little boats so fun is that they do 0 to 80 in 2.2 sec and 600 feet... <br />The flying boat above had blown over backwards, and did a complete 360.. it ended up landing right side up.. no damage.. the guy never missed a beat.. he ran his next heat. "don't think I could have done it" "BALLS"<br />

Yea,<br />Thos boats are BAddddddddddddddddddddddd! I went and saw the Fountain Poker Run races last weekend at Washington, NC. You wanna talk about awesome those cats were hugeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. There was one that had 4 Jaguar engines in it, and it would fly. That thing was sitting next to a coach bus and made the bus look small. When he came down the river, you couldnt hear a thing and the ground shook, like a low flying F-16 or something, lol. To bad in the real race he blew and engine or something. Then the Pier57 boat was fast to it would run about 160 in the 1.5 mile straight, but it lost and engine to. So the slowpoke won, lol. Check out the Pier57 Racing boats, they are bad. www.fountainusa.com<br /><br />Thanks,<br />Bryan Cox

Howie actually it was a guy i used to work for at port neches park. Rusty Penland, hes been building that boat since around 1998 or so.. his brother Joe has one i think too. anyway, hey get this, i was talking to one of my old buddies, who races jet skis and hes real big into that, he said hes straightend at least 50 propeller shafts with a floor jack and the bearing housing still installed. Said you just have to do it real slow. just pop the seals on the bearing carrier and filler up? so hes gunna help me do that, if it works great, if not i found a whole lower unit for 200 bux. its white and my motor is black, but oh well, ill have to paint it shadow grass anyway! heh think that floor jackin will work?

heh well i did try it, i jacked the whole boat up by the prop nut! and it didnt bend it any. so i did it again and added weight each time, ive gotten alot of it out, now it only is bent about 1/16th of an inch.i just dont have enough junk to put into the boat.hrmmm. it did work some just didnt get it yet.

You gotta be kidding me. You better leave it alone and take it to a good mechanic before you ruin the entire lower unit. Walker

Re: BLACK OIL dripping from prop!

HAHAHA LOOKIE HERE! Ok here is the mother of all riggin jobs! so me and the jet ski dood got together a minute ago, we took a scissor jack from a car, found the high spot on the shaft and marked it, turned the high side to the cavitation plate which has that stingray stabilizer on it, put the controls in drive so it wouldnt move, then opened the scissor jack up where the base of the jack was pointing up resting on the cavitation plate/stabilizer, and top of the jack was resting on the nut. turned it around 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 turns, and checked the seal where the bend was hittin. less bend, so we did it again. less bend again, third time the charm and it is straight. well to the eye, so its close enough for me. filled er up with oil, and put it all back together. didnt have to change the seals and it is holding oil and does not wobble. cant wait to feel what its like to run without vibration and actually have gear oil in the lower unit. remember this ghetto fixin can work.

It sat around the shop for sale for about a year.. Somebody bought it, took it out twice, then it sat at the shop for sale for another 6 months... think somebody else bought it last week and is doing some trailer maint. on it.. then pretty sure you'll be seeing it on the water alot....
