I have a 1973 115 Evinrude that has a 1977 135 powerhead on it. The motor runs great but everytime I check the plugs they are always real oily and black with carbon. I'm running the same size jets that came with the motor. I hear of guys all the time talking about their plugs being a light brown color. Mine are just plain oily all the time. The motor dosen't run bad, I was just wondering why that was. Am I too rich with my jetting?
Thanks:
Jason

What plugs are you running?? You're not running those 64cent 'el cheapos are you ??? Champion OR NGK are the ones to have. Also, is the engine running too cold??

P.V.,
I'm running the UL77V plugs. The engine temp has been running normally between 160-180 degrees off the head.
Thanks:
Jason
