Hi......Everyone

I went to check on engines as I always do after going out on the boat.

To my surprise I found BLACK POWDER all over. I check the Flame Arrestor It also had this black Powder. I went ahead and clean the flame arrestor.

Black Powder - blows away very easily, Not Oily

All the hoses and belts are new and were in good condition.

The only thing I saw was that the alternator belt had become loose.

Does anyone have any idea what it could be and how to fix this situation?

Would bet money you have rusty pulleys on your engine. When running the rust acts like sand paper on the belts and sands the belt smaller (loose belt).
Clean and paint the pulleys.

What Don said. Super common problem.. I have to sand mine after every winter to knock off the fresh rust. I tried painting them one year but the paint just rubbed off. If you run it normally during the summer they shouldn't rust up again, so a springtime sanding should do you.

Now, time to change those belts probably.

I tried painting them one year but the paint just rubbed off.

I found that cleaning all the rust off, then wiping down with acetone or laquer thinner, then painting 4 or 5 coats of Rustolem and letting them drive for 2 to 3 days kept the paint on them a lot longer.
