Its an old boat... its kinda yellow nowadays. I have just redone the interior with new carpet and upholstery. But I keep hearing myths that certain kinds of bleach will whiten fiberglass hulls. Is this true? And if so, how do you apply. It’s got to soak in for a while right? So ids have to fill my pool with bleach and drop my boat in it? lol!
Seriously though, can it be done?

Re: Bleach da Boat

Get yourself enough of this to spray the entire hull. It will remove all the yellowing stain, No rubbing or scrubbing, just keep the hull wet with the rust stain remover untill it just disappears.

Once the staining is removed wash well then try this Meguiars Fiberglass restore kit. I promise, you will think you got a new boat.

You will also get better results if you use an electric buffer.

It's Meguiars. The pic I used shows the three step restoration kit, which includes an oxidation remover, a polish, and a wax. All in one kit runs around 35 to 40 dollars. Worth every penny.

The "W" Marine store sells their brand rust stain remover in their "W" Marine brand for about 2 dollars a bottle cheaper. Its the same thing as the Starbrite.

If you have any heavy rust around any hardware fitting a small stiff bristle brush (used with the rust stain remover) (tooth brush to get in tight places) works wonders.

Also be cautious with the rust stain remover around galvanized metal. Keep it washed off aluminum and galvanize.

Deep Blue, I hate to break it to ya, but if the boat is the one in your avatar it needs a little more than bleach. Maybe some lessons on how to beach a boat too.
