bleaching carpet

Anyone ever try this . Seems like it would wok if you just wanted white carpet.

Ayuh,...

My guess is, you'd probably end up with varying shades of Grey...

hmmm, well I be danged! I diluted about 1 gallon bleach to about 2 gallons of hot water and added a test piece of carpet and guess what happened? It got really clean:D No color change at all! must be the synthetic marine fabric has no dye in it to be bleached out. Go figure ,woulda never guessed. Did find a use for a bleach pen though, works great on old white rub rails,makes them look new again .Cheaper and faster than replacing too!

in an unrelated note a 50% bleach and water solution is what the dealership used on the ceiling of my motorhome after it sprang a leak in the roof. the ceiling got stained real bad in one area, so they used that and it went away for good. they sprayed it let it dry and then did it two more times. did not discolor. so i would think the same for most marine aps too
