I have a Mercury outboard 2003 40Hp 2-stroke 2-cylinder 1-carburetor. It runs a little rough with a glitch or a jump every now and then. Just pulled the intake and reed valve assembly off, all clean and in good shape.
There is a Bleed Check Valve in the middle of the two cylinder block. My repair manual sad to check that before reassembling the reed valve and intake. when I pulled the valve carrier assembly out the check valve fell out of the carrier.
My question is which way does the bleed valve go in. My repair manual does not say which direction to put it or what it's for.
