Re: bleed screws on tilt and trim

so this has a seperate trim pump from the motor right? and why do u have to blleed it? i'm pretty sure it bleeds itself. if u add fluid to the resevoir and ran the motor up and down it should release the air back into the resevoir. just keep the cap off and add fluid if needed. is the motor falling down on its own? or what if u push down on it? if it does... you need to close ur manual release screw.

That type of system is not self bleeding. The cylinders must be bled anytime the lines are disconnected either at the pump or the cylinders.

You will need to remove the cylinders from the mount to bleed the UP lines. The bleed screws are the slotted ones.

Be sure to check the fluid level in the reservoir and keep it full, otherwise you will allow air into the system during the bleed procedure. The engine should be in the full up position to check fluid level in the reservoir.

To bleed the UP circuit (bottom of cylinder) you need to rotate the cylinders rod side up. To bleed the DOWN circuit (top of cylinders) the cylinders should be rod side down.
