Almost done with my drum to disc conversion. I'm wondering how the best way would be to bleed the new system. It's tottally new, actuator, lines, calipers. How in the world would you pump the actuator?? I thought about just letting it gravity bleed, but not sure if that would work considering the height the axle would need to be.

Re: Bleeding new system.

I used my hitch to bleed the brakes. It takes two people but it was pretty simple.

My problem is my 2nd helper is 6.........I think i'll go the pressure-bleed route. I've got the cap off the old actuator I'm gonna do some modd'in to.

Don't forget your local auto stores. Anymore a lot of them have the bleeders for use FREE. Just need a security deposit. :D

I used a tie down ratchet strap around my coupler (surge brakes) and squeezed it together a few times with a hose and bottle of the bleeder vent.

its cheap and it worked.

I'm going this route- Saved the cap off the old actuator. Drilled and installed a coupling, pressurize to about 20 and give it a try.

20 PSI is PLENTY! 6-10 usually is enough start there first and work up! Slow is good in this case. Much easier to handle!

Make sure you have a way to feed in some more fluid or you'll just shove all your fluid out and replace it with air. The commercial pressure bleeders like the motive that I have are using air to push additional fluid into the MC, not air to just push the fluid out of the MC.

20 psi is way too much if you are not pushing fluid, you'll aerate the fluid in your MC.

My rig worked well. I did start off @ 15 psi seemed to take a while so I cranked it up to 20. Never ran it dry, fluid was not aerated, clean crisp and clear. I will road-test Sunday.
