i HAVE A 1988 OMC Seadrive, 2 litre, developed a leak in trim system, ran out of fluid, refilled, trim motor runs but motor doesn't move. Do I need to bleed the system, if so, where is bleed screw and what are steps to follow?

Re: bleeding tilt system

Hi monk.

These systems are self bleeding. The service manual says to add fluid to the reservoir, cycle engine up and down 4 to 5 times and leave in the up position. Recheck flued level and repeat. Any air in the sysem will end up in the reservoir and removing the fill plug will release it. If yours will not go up or down, fill reservoir, and run motor. Recheck reservoir and refill if needed. You may not have enough fluid to fill the system. Repeated fillings maybe needed until the system has enough fluid to work.

Re: bleeding tilt system

Outboard Jim, thanks for the infor but am I filling the right thing? There is a resovoir for hydrolic fluid but it only bhas one line going out, no return line. It seems to service both the steering and tilt. After about running a battery down running the tilt motor, I still have no movement. Can you clue me in on the location of the resevoir? Wish I had a manuel but dont. Dont spell worth a flip either.

Thanks, Monk
