blew a rod....

I have a 1970's gamefisher 7.5 hp. Well i was about to head out to the lake. I put my motor in a bucket of water started it up because i just put $70 worth of parts in it manly replaced all the gaskets. it was sounding good then i heard CLACK CLACK what is that.... the rod blew right out the side of the engine block should i junk it???

Yup, I too would sell all the parts piece by piece on ebay. You'll probably get more for it's parts than the whole thing was worth when it was in running condition.

just remember...<br /><br />handy man's secret weapon = duct tape...<br /><br />its the boat mechanics cure all...<br /><br />you say the rod came right out of the side?<br />duct tape it. itll be good as new.<br /><br />just joking of course. you should try cragslist.com and try and trade it for something else or barter with someone who might need your parts.<br /><br />and that site is u.s.a. wide, so you should be able to find someone near you who wants to do buisness, and its free. buy and sell, its awesome.

If it is a clean brake, they could weld it back up again, I repaired a old 30hp suzuki that knocked the con-rod through the block, lucky it was a clean break and I fixed as good as new, otherwise .... use it as a postbox outside your house .... I have a nice old super seahorse 40hp johnson's as a post box in front of my house ....
