Your son is teaching high school math--that alone speaks volumes of high praise for his character. Teachers are on the front lines of making this a better world. So, no surprise that his quality shows elsewhere. Must have had a good dad. Well done.

Oh,,, the agony of defeat...

I fought a big striper for 10-15 minutes last year. Right at boat side it did a quick roll and was gone,,, smart bugger. It was gray light and hard to see in the water and when I asked my son if he saw it, he said, no, but it had a huge tail. I was guessing an easy 30 if not 40# fish.

Month later in almost the same spot I hooked into another beast that did the same exact roll trick at the boat, but this time it didn't come unbuttoned and I was able to get it into the boat. This one weighed 51#

I still wonder if the one I lost was the same fish, or just another big one... (lake record is 68#)
