Block cooling lines on black max

So I'm overhauling the black max big time. In my manual schematic it shows an external hose from poppet valve assembly that ultimately ends up dumping water out the tell tale. Well previous owner plugged that outlet at poppet valve. I need a pic of the correct setup so I can get that in order. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The poppet does not supply any water to the tell-tale. The thermostats do. The hose to the top of the poppet is to modify it's operating pressure. It carries a pressure signal, not a water flow. Some engines don't have it.
