Hi,
I was looking into getting a block relined. The center piston is burnt and the owner says he’ll sell it for $150. Will this later model 70hp this fit on my ‘73 65h lower?? What was the difference between the 65 and 70 models (and don’t say 5hp) Were most of the 3 cylinder blocks interchangeable?
Anyway if someone knows of an outfit that does this or an approximate coat I would be very grateful.

Thanks

Dave
If the driveshaft spline and the base gasket
are the same it may work.
You would have to bore one cyl oversized and
put in an oversized piston. What yr is the 70.
...hehe...corm

It look like the 70hp block is really a 75hp and it 76 model.

Did they come in 2 lower shaft diameters? or did I just dream that..

Anyway I'll need one cylinder re-finished. and a larger piston.. Any idear what that costs. (ball park)

Dave

Question. When getting a block redone, do you bore out all the cylinders of just the one that is damaged?

My thought would be if you just did the burnt one and put a larger piston in it would unbalance the crank. Or would it??

An experts advice please?

PS I have a case of beer bet on this one with a buddy..

Hi L_T,
The wt of the std and os piston are so close
it wont make a difference on a pleasure boat.
On a race engine it's a different story.
If the bores are OK n the others hone them
and re-ring em. It is best to do them all,but
the factory says you don't have to.
...have fun...corm ( did I win a beer?)
