Re: Blood on boat seats.
Itsaboattime,
This is going to seriously cut into your own boating time, isn't it?
First off, you have a lot of work ahead of you if you are going to it right. Otherwise, anything you do or have done is for not.
You're going to need to remove the ski hold hatch and mount and get up under the the rim of the ski hold and any other place that the blood would have been.
Soaking the bilge will only get the surface area it is in contact with. You could try raising and lowering the trailer tongue several times to get the solution "sloshing and splashing".
Take some water, try to reenact where she was and use the water to track where the blood went. This will give you a better idea as to where to look for "hidden" blood. I can only assume that there would be tissue as well. With the extensive damage that was done, if any first aid was rendered in the boat, debridement of the wounds would remove loose/torn tissue. This could be hiding in the boat as well.
I would recommend pulling the seats and bases as there could very well be blood hiding under them in the carpet. If she was in the bow, remove the seats from there also. Look for blood under the hinges. The same for the bench seat. Also, you might consider loosening the side panels at whatever point she got in and out of the boat and looking for blood lurking behind them. Scour the underside of the sundeck or dog house, whichever it has. Cover the engine and electronics and spray the underside of the rear hatch really good also. (Assuming it has an IO)
You would be suprised where blood can get. Especially when it gets wet. It will go anyplace water can get and it stays there. As for getting it completely clean and odorless, with the amount of blood loss she had, it will be very difficult if not impossible. You can minimize the future odors but I'm afraid that is about it. Look for products with blood eating enzymes. Look at some "pet stain and odor" cleaners like "Natures Miracle". The proteins in the blood bond with materials in heat, and with the heat we've had here since that happened...oh boy. Enzymatic cleaners have proteins that "eat" blood proteins. (I assume that the cleaner you are getting from Rockford would have this in it anyway. But this is at least how and why it works.) And do not cover the boat, it will turn it into an oven

, and then you are fighting yourself.
Good luck to you, and yep, gotta agree, pretty good friend to take that on.
I gotta know though, if you knew how involved it was going to be...would you have still said yes?
I think you would have.
