I'm having a hard time finding the plastic type venting tubing, but I did find some dryer vent tubing. The stuff is make from what looks like aluminum.
Anyone see any problems using this? Seems like it's a lot more durable than the plastic stuff.

Re: Blower ducting material

for some reason blowing air through an ungrounded metallic vent tube just seems like a bad idea... Might be possible to build up a pretty nice static spark.

At least in my experience, that metal dryer vent stuff is crap. The wall is so thin that looking at it wrong puts a hole in it. (Of course, for dryer use at least, plastic is a horrible idea also, I've got my dryer vented with hardline. None of that is an issue here)

I know its been a while since any replies but I had to add something no one has thought about with these stupid dryer vents is that they can also cause electrolysis for anything metal it touches and either degrade the duct or whatever it touches.

I used the fire retardant plastic / wire reinforced dryer hose on mine. It was 10x more durable and 1/4 the price than the crappy (but expensive) "marine vent hose" at the big box store. No name mentioned. I think the "marine grade" has a S/S wire in it to make it more bux.

I found und that "sewer" hose used with campers is the right size, has a wire in it you can use for a ground wire to prevent static build up, and is inexpensive.

RV sewer hose is just a tad oversized but with a hose clamp, it will snug up good and tight. Material isn't marine approved! User beware! The hose is stronger than most cheapo marine vent hose. So you have a choice - do it right - or jury rig it ! Your choice.

Re: Blower ducting material

I've got both the aluminum ducting(port side "exhaust") and vinyl(stbd/"intake"). Haven't had a problem. The crap they pass off for $1.25 a foot at the local marina is EXACTLY the same...I mean right down to the markings on the tube itself...as the stuff sold at the local Fleet Farm for dryers at 1/4 the price.

If I go up like the a Roman ship under fire from Archimedes @Syracuse because of this... I'll post the picks here.;)
