I have an 02 Suburban that keeps blowing TLR/parking lamp fuses.
When hooking up my trailer lights I noticed I had no running/tail lights. I did the usual check under the wiring receptacle as this was a nasty looking dealer install on the towing package. I find everything working except running lights. Next I chech the fuse. The fuse was blown. After changing the fuse (15a) I went under to the receptacle to find it smoldering/melting insulation (running/Parking lamp). It pretty much fried my 7:4 receptacle. I went down this morning and bought a new 7:4 receptacle and 7 way plug and all the trailer wire I'd need to rewire thinking I had a short in the trailer somewhere.
After hooking up my plug to the trailer wire harness, I checked continuity with the plug plugged into the receptacle (before it was installed) to be sure everything checked out. I ran my wiring on the trailer and hooked up my marker and tail lights. Again, everything works except the running/parking lights. I rechecked the fuse and it was blown. I replaced it, still nothing.
What I do have is this:
Yellow- Left Blinker/brake light / OK
Green- Right blinker brake light /OK
Purple _ Back-up light / OK
Brown- Running light xx No running lights....
I'm perplexed
