I went to start the boat this season (1974-76 Mercury 1150) and there was no spark. Bench tested the switch box, no spark. Bought a new CDI. Now, there is only intermittent spark. I bench tested the new part, and it only occasionally throws a spark, and only with a very short spark gap (1/8" max.) Is it possible to fry these things, i.e. If the wire harness has a flaw in it? I've tested for shorts and continuity before replacing the switch box, and haven't found any problems. Or maybe I just received a bad part? I've also tried different batteries, so I've ruled that out.
