Blown Wet Exhaust Hose

My Son took out the boat last Sunday and came home with a blown wet exhaust failure which I can assume was caused by the engine overheating. I removed the riser and did not see any signs of a blockage. The risers and exhaust manifolds where replaced by me last fall so they looked brand new inside and outside. The exhaust does exit thru the transom into 4 inch stainless steel exhaust tubes. On this side that had the blown hole was also missing the metal flapper. When I had the riser removed from the exhaust manifold I decided to start the motor to check and see if I got any water coming out the top of the manifold. Large amounts of water came out. Before replacing the wet exhaust tube what else should I look for that might have caused the motor to overheat enough to burn out the rubber tubing or should I just keep an eye on the water temperature gauge?

Last year late in the season. This weekend I will put the riser back on and then start and observe the temp gauge.

Ayuh,.... Another crazy possibility is the water pick up, picked up a plastic bag or other trash, blockin' the water port,...

As soon as ya stop, the bag drifts away, yet yer coolin' system is Smoked,....

I finally started it up and the temperature gauge is staying around 155 to 160 degrees. I did start checking the risers and exhaust manifold temperatures on the port side and the bottom of the front exhaust manifold got up to 135 degrees while the back was only around 110 degrees, Weird but on the starboard side the highest temperature I recorded was around 110 degrees. Both manifolds and risers are less than a year old. Why is the one side lower in temperature?

Ayuh,..... Why is the sky blue,....

Both sides never run the same,....

The flows need to be balanced, not equal,....
