board and bindings question

last spring i picked up a liquid force stance 138 with binding (clearance priced really cheap) that are like a soft boot with 1 lace that pulls up tight. i know it is an entry level board and it worked fine for me and a few friends to learn on. now i'm getting a little more aggressive and i find that i'm having trouble keeping my heel sitting back tight in the boot. i have the lace pulled as tight as i can get it. this problem is just because of the beginner bindings right?

the setup has worked fine for learning how to get up, and carve but i've also found that the 138 board might be a little short for me. i'm 220lb, 6'4'', size 14 foot. i'm gonna spend some time at wakeworld figuring out what i need but if you have any suggestions please pass them along.

Re: board and bindings question

I would think at your size that board would be a little too small for you. If you read a little in here you will find two schools of thought as to how tight the bindings should be. Some say you should come out of the bindings fairly easily when you fall. Some say both feet should stay in the board. I kind of go with the second theory for the fact that if only one foot releases you have a very big possibility of injury. I snowboard a lot and you learn how to fall, no releasing from a snowboard.
