Boat and Trailer drives itself

A friend of mine had just bought a new 17ft. Key West and he asked me to go with him on his maiden voyage. As we went over a bridge we noticed a brand new boat that looked just like my friends fly past us. He thought it was funny that it had a very similar liscense plate. As it got further down the bridge it started to swerve a bit and then took out 3 cars ahead of it. We could not believe our eyes. We started to slow and I happen to look back and noticed that the boat was no longer behind us. It then occured to me and my firend that the boat that went past us wasn't a similar boat but my friend's boat. Thank god no one was seriously injured but boy did he have to pay for a lot of damage. His boat was ruined and I tought he was going to die! he forgot to check and make sure the trailer was securely fastened to the truck and wouldn't come off.

You noticed a boat pass you on a highway but did not think it was odd that nothing was towing it?

My gawd, it never ceases to amaze me that people can tow something and completely forget they have something behind them.<br /><br />That's what mirrors are for. Duhhhh!!!<br /><br />That guy shouldn't allowed on the road, towing or not.

Sounds like another case of not having the proper saftey chains, or lack of not hooking them up right.

Ouch! I've seen a 24' boat roll off a trailer once at about 40 mph, not pretty!
