Hi i wonder if you guys can help i was unsure weather to put this in here on in the trailer section but here goes

I have a Bayliner 2352 capri cuddy 1999 with a 350 mag mpi with bravo 1 stern drive

i have had the boat for just over a year and tow it on a trailer but it tows horible and i think its not adjusted correctly for this boat

i want to know does any one know where the centre of gravity is on this boat empty so i can acuratly set the trailer up

the nose weight is too high over 200kg but the boat cant go any further back so i need to move the axles forward to compensate.

Thanks
Si

Re: Boat CG?

Are you sure you want to lighten your tongue weight? Sounds like you need to move the boat forward. A light tongue weight will make the trailer sway and wander behind your tow vehicle. At 200 kg your tongue weight is already too light for your boat.

Specs on your boat show it at 2180 kg dry. It'll be at least 2400 kg wet. Tongue weight is recommended to be 9% to 15% of trailer weight, which means that your tongue weight should be between 216 and 360 kg.

You may want to see how it tows by moving the boat forward till you have around 300 kg on the tongue. It's usually easy to do by just moving the winch forward.

Re: Boat CG?

thanks for the info im abit unsure what to do though as my tow car is a landrover discovery 1 3.9 v8 its well within spec as for towing capacity max is 3500kg but in hand book it says max nose weight 150kg so im obviously exceeding this by about 100kg

Thanks
