so i've got a 16 ft fiberglass boat of unknown age and make currently with a 1956 30 hp johnson on the back that works great.
i've been using the boat to fish all season so far how ever i want more power more speed so i bought a 1966 60 hp evinrude to swap motors.
here inlies to challenge, the 56 johnson is tiller controlled and the 66 evinrude is remote.
good news is the evinrude came with all controls, all i have to do is make it all fit in my boat.
let the fun begin pics to follow

Re: boat conversion

It shouldn't be too big a deal. I'm thinking of a steering system (old one was tiller) and maybe some new cables (if the length isn't right) Neither are really a big deal or too bad of a cost issue.

Good luck and let us know where we can help

Re: boat conversion

ok were making progress now the motor runs, i ended up with new points and condenser, new plugs and wires, and rebuilt the carb.
yesterday i took a couple of before pics but i'll have to wait for my wife to come back with the camera before i can post them.
the boat is gutted down to the bare fiberglass now so i'll let it dry for a day or so then start the build
