Who the hell cares if it's bumped, if you don't want to read it then don't. Move on. For me it gave me something to read that sounded interesting and I wouldn't have otherwise.

Policies have been reviewed and under some circumstances I would agree with you. However the policy strictly pertains to questions asked in a 'dead' thread. The aforementioned posts have not in any way 'hijacked' the thread.

So for now maybe, just maybe, the thread bump will cause the OP to come back and update us all.
