Tell me what you remember when you looked at her?

I made an offer on it this morning (pending looking it over) My boat :grumpy: and some cash. Will see what the current owner says. After much debate at the highest court in Chuckn land I have achieved the ability to obtain the boat CONSIDERING the current 16' goes away... Oh well. What can you do? Will let you know what comes of it...

Yep, the problem is technology....... If you want to avoid MBS* or the other strain, MMS, you've got to be sequestered like a jury: NO INTERNET or CL (& other ad site) access. Unless you're a sadist (shopping but no buying) or cruising for a beat down from the Admiral (buying w/out selling the current rig 1st)......

A full 'boatyard' is the only end to this road........

Or the start...

All variants of MBS should be seen as a GOOD thing!!! Think about it for a moment...

- 1. Does it bring happiness to you and your family?
- 2. Is there joy in re-building them?
- 3. Is there a great sense and feeling of accomplishment when completed?

I could go on... but I am pretty certain that all of us can answer YES to most or all of these items!! So go out there. Be brave. Accept that MBS is a great disorder to have! And ROCK IT MAN!!!! Different boats for different conditions... safety first!

Look the Admiral has 10 winter jackets... I have 2. She loves her jackets --- different ones for different conditions and different occasions. I totally accept it! 2, 3, 4 boats... totally cool. Same principle!

Enjoy your MBS! Embrace it!

i'm sure the Admiral would see the logic in your analogy, given that jackets and boats cost about the same, have comparable continuing requirements for care and feeding (that's why they say COAT stands for Charge Off Another Thousand, right?), fit in the car comparably well, and are about equally easy to store and popular with HOAs

That's exactly how I see it... totally identical! :) Really like comparing different types of apples!

Would this relate as well to MPS, MWS and MSS? Multiple Purse, Watch and Shoe syndromes. My darling has it bad.

Man, mine has the shoe & purse addictions, but definitely doesn't see them as equivalents........ Even in total sum, I'm still WAY behind.... :confusion:

But yeah, I'd be in even more trouble w/ out the MBS I figure

do what I did with #3 boat.

buy it after the wifey says no, and then spend the next couple of days making "boat sounds" to wake her up in the morning, ect.

smoothed everything over for me... + a little kitchen work... lighting... some ceeling fans...ect. :)

Mine says no to everything. I do it and take my beating like a man. For me there is no other way. Hey it's worked three times so far. I've just about got her broken in.

So...... I don't have MBS YET and therefore I am going to abstain from comment...

Got his reply - "Thanks for the offer. Lets talk later in a month or two. I have lots of tire kickers so far and many driving out to look at the boat soon. So my answer is not yet on dealing or trades."

Hmmmm.... Darn tire kickers! On a holding pattern unless you all have some idea that I could overwhelm him with...?

Re: Boat Fever and its - degrees? What to do?

We are back on! Shot him an e-mail today asking if it was still available and it seems it is. I think I wouldnt give him more than $2500, depending on the age and needs of the interior...i/e How bad is it. But He still has it and I am trying to get a 'Yeah, I might be interested in a trade and cash" commitment first.

I will have to rent Papa to go inspect it with me, I only know OBs so... need some help.

Anyways, she is still out there and we'll see!

Question - with the 22ft Holiday, do I gain size, length wise with the move from the 16' Open Bow? I really want and open bow but Id take a 22ft v5 anyway I could get one. I know the girth and height is far bigger. hmmm....

Re: Boat Fever and its - degrees? What to do?

$2500 sounds like a bit much to pay for a cut the bow cover off switch to open bow...

But it's the 22' V5 you've been looking for, and the motor fires, most of the open bow interior won't be there anyway, so I wouldn't be overly concerned w/ the current condition of the interior if the trailer, motor, hull & windshield are in good order. It looks to have an operable center section now for the windshield, so you might be able to use it w/ little (perhaps NO) modification as an open bow windshield on 2 side consoles...

It will require a larger capacity tow vehicle too...

Hey Chuck - Most of the added 6 foot over a 16 footer. is cockpit area. The bow is a little longer and the I/O setup takes some room, but the seating area really gains. I see some brochure digging in your future. :)

Re: Boat Fever and its - degrees? What to do?

My cockpit on my 22' SS V-5 (from windshield back) is HUGE! On the Holidays the windshield is further forward. If you were to put in single seats for driver and passenger on that Holiday, you would have more room than you'd know what to do with. You're also gaining a lot of width over the 16'er also. I would say the advantage goes to the Holiday in big water as a wave coming over the bow wouldn't be as big a deal as it would be in an SS.

P.S. I still stand by my earlier posts....buy it, buy it. There is no reason not to!!!

Re: Boat Fever and its - degrees? What to do?

I've been dealing w/MBS for a while now. It's transmittable through Starcrafts.

Some facts about MBS. Lunds and Alumacrafts don't spread the disease. However, Feathercreafts have been known carry it. Crestliners have not had a study done on them yet, as well as some other manufacturers.

First you have to admit you have a problem. Then the disease becomes easier to deal with. Once you come to terms with your disease, just go buy the boat, and get it over with. In the big scheme of things, its just small potatoes. Go flash cash in front of his face, in 100 dollar bills. If he doesn't take it. you move on. There always will be another Starcraft boat somewhere spreading this infliction..:D
