boat fuel tank set up

hope someone could explain how to set up fuel system on a center console i kinda know maybe a diagram or where to get one. its under the deck it stops after the fuel filter do i go straight to the engine or do i need i primer ball or am i missing something else thx for the help

If it is a carburetor:

Fuel tank to primer bulb. Bulb to fuel/water seperator. Seperator to engine mounted fuel pump (if equipped). I have seen some that have the primer bulb after the water seperator instead of before it. This allows them to fill the filter after a change by pulling fuel through it instead of pushing it. I don't know if one way is better than the other.

If it is fuel injected, you wouldn't need the primer bulb and there is probably a return line to the tank as well.
