I finished preparing the boat for the new Thru-Hulls, and am ready to install them. Here is a look at what I've done so far.

HELP. I installed new Deck drains and through hulls. Now I have to do the Livewell drain and over flow. I am adding Seacocks and Bronze thru-Hulls.... but, it's a royal pain, as with the new seacocks, I won't be able to use the original holes. (which were plugged, and I was going to re-drill in the same spot. Looks like I need to drill new holes. so, to me, that's a big deal, and I'm not sure where to drill the new holes, or, if I should somehow connect the overflow drain someway else. Here is a look at the drain and over flow. The drain, I suppose I will drill in the bottom, as other compartment drains also drain out a hose, that runs to the same drain the livewell drain hose does. the real question, is, how to proceed with the livewell overflow.... connect the hose elsewhere somehow, drill the new hole, higher up.... closer to the water line (which still leaves a little downward on the hose). or, drill the new hole, just a tiny bit from where it was, enough to fit it in the same general area that it was.... thoughts?

YouTube video of it: http://youtu.be/LsF5QmcyM1s

Note: What you see in the inside transom pic, is, a hose with a barb and no hose on it. That is a hose that compartments drain through, and the livewell drain Tee's into. There will be a short hose connected to that, that hooks into the new thru-hull and seacock.

Or should I disable the thing, and seal up all the thru-hulls for the livewell? Maybe it's just not worth it? If I do, I would still need the 1 drain, but not the overflow or scoop or pump anymore. If I do this. does that drain get PLUGGED, or left open? It will have a seacock.... so, forget the plug, is it left OPEN while underway, or CLOSED? I'm really thinking I should can the live well. The pump and scoop have no seacock, and I simply can not afford another 2 of them, and the Scoop, has no room for a seacock. am I thinking to much? Do I just make a hole and add the overflow, or, should I just scrap this thing?

HAHA! Agreed WoG... I'll be looking into some of these here in the future with my Transom replacement... had nothing but plastic with what looked like regular weatherproof caulk sealing them up... Going to fix that ASAP. Anyways, best of luck to ya cerenzio. Hope it all works out for ya!

Hey, I meant to tell you. I get mine from JAMESTOWN Distributors. They are a good shop. =)

I'm gonna try to make something up in the AM to show it as clearly as I can.... Till then, let me simplify it.

The key question here is:

I plugged the overflow thru-hull of my live well. It ran from the livewell, to the near bottom of the Transom. There is no room to return it to that spot. Now that I will be drilling a new hole, and therefor have the option to CHOOSE where the over flow thru-hull goes.... Where should I put it? As close to the bottom where it was originally, up higher/closer to the water line, wherever the darn thing fits, or... something else? It's a 1-1/4" through hull. So it's not going to be a large hole.

Goodmorning. I made a diagram using pictures. Here it is. Is this helpful? I will try again if need be. Just say the word. =)

Attached is a diagram, and a picture of the transom of the boat.

I'm done. Thanks so much for all your help! Here is a look at the job from start to finish. Boy did it change from day 1. This shows more of the live-well and compartment drains, than the original deck drains, since, those were such a pain, that I didn't get to take much pictures/video... I couldn't have done this without you guys.

Note: I SWEAR I am not as boring as I Sound in this video!!! lol!!

Just for future information for others reading your thread. Your other option for the livewell is to wire and install a macerator pump to the drain line of the livewell and plumb that to a thru hull fitting above the water line. This is especially good on livewells because the macerator will chop up any debris from fish/bait so no clogs in your plumbing/exit drain in the future.

It would also keep you from having drains below the water line on a smaller vessel with limited freeboard because with the pump installed the thru hull could be located anywhere above the waterline. And usually if there is access, out the side of the hull is a much better location for these type of drains.

Glad you got this fixed, now lets hope the transom hold up ;)
