Boat hit something, what repairs are needed?

I was at the local lake and hit something, very hard. Never saw it coming nor did I see what it was afterwards. I was only going around 15 mph. It actually caused the front of my boat to dip heavily, when the motor hit whatever it was. The width of the scratch can be covered by a nickel. It's only a surface stratch less than 1/16th deep I would say, but still it shows some shiny aluminum looking stuff. Also there are two places where there are voids or holes that concern me, they are about as large as a 4 penny nail. What do you recommend to fix it? The motor blades where brand new until now. I ground down the sharp edges on the edge of the blade, but it still has the dent shown. All 3 blades are about the same. Again, is there anything I can do to fix these?

Thanks in advance.

Well aluminum props are not expensive, personally I'd just replace it and keep that as a spare.
Might even be a good excuse to upgrade to a new stainless steel prop. As far as the nicks in the foot....I've seen much worse with no problems.

So you're saying the tiny void holes shouldn't be a problem and I can just leave it? By the way, I take the boat out of the water after each use, it doesn't stay in the water overnight in case that makes a difference.

I agree. Then wait for winter layup and send it out to be repaired. That way you will have two good props. Depending on where you boat a spare can be good insurance.

may not look like much, but the vibration that prop will cause is a outboard worst nightmare.get new one and keep it for spare, can be fixed too.

Thats to all, I will get a new one. But I will probably wait until later in the year and try to get a discount. I only use the boat once a weekend for about an hour each time. Still fun, but not "hard core" boating or anything like that.

It's not worth the risk to wait and try to save a few bucks. Have it repaired or buy a new one. Repair should be less than $50 and you can get new aluminum props for $100 to $150.
