My 2000 Nitro fish & ski wants to hook to the right at medium to high speed. Mototr is a 2000 115 Mercury. I was told there was some kind of adjustment on a small skeg right above the prop to cure this problem. Is this correct?
Thanks

Re: Boat hooking right

If it pulls to the right, the tab usually can be moved to the right to correct it. There's usually a bolt to loosen it. Like maybe a allen bolt accessed from above.

A little goes a long way.

Also, the motor's trim angle, or the prop in use can effect the issue.

So can weight placement in the boat.

Re: Boat hooking right

I just purchased the boat form another fellow.
The weight is pretty much equal, meaning I cant think of thing that would be weight heavy on one side of the boat or the other.

The boat came with a 22 pitch SS Prop.
But I do have the factory aluminum prop that came on the boat. I'll have to check that out.

Thanks a million for the tips. I give her the old trial & error adjustment keeping in mind that "A little goes a long ways"

Re: Boat hooking right

Some suggest using a little Loctite threadlocker on the bolt threads going into the trim tab. I use the Blue Loctite myself.

The Loctite keeps the bolt from working loose, which could cause the loss of the trim tab while under way. I learned of this tip the hard way when my trim tab disappeared suddenly and I wondered why it happened.

NITRO, On a high performance boat, the zincs are adjusted such that at a normal cruise (normal trim up) the steering wheel does not pull left or right. When adjusted like this, you may find that the boat pulls right when the motor is trimmed down, and pulls left when the trim is trimmed to the max. This is normal.
