Boat ID help

I just picked up this aluminum boat and trailer for a song and I have spent a few hours trying to find out what it is. The registration says unknown. It is 16'4" long and 70" at the widest point. It looks to be an older aluminum runabout as there is no top rail, but there are many rivet holes on it where there may have been a skin over the bow. It also has a throttle control location on the starboard side near the front. From my searching, the transom area looks a lot like some Alumacrafts, but I can't find a match.

I am going to make it into a fishing/hunting boat, but I would like to know the manufacturer so I can determine max HP and load rating.

Thanks for the help,

RC

Re: Boat ID help

Looks like it would go ok with 25hp.
They added a cross brace in the bow after removing the fwd deck.
Nice cheap boat, you can always get your money out of those, its about the only boat you can.!:)

Re: Boat ID help

I would like to go with possibly a 35 or 40. Tiller or forward control is still up in the air. I need to fix a couple leaky rivets but our max temp here in the afternoon is only up to 45*. I may have to get the boat off the trailer and into the garage.

Anyone else with a possible hull ID?

Re: Boat ID help

Nice old rig, maybe an AeroCraft? They were made in Saginaw and I see you are in that area. My 12' Aerocraft has a very flat stern like yours, and very little freeboard.

Check out fiberglassics.com, they have tons of old boat brochures that might help you get an ID. Precise measurements will help match it against the specs in the brochures.

Welcome to iboats.:)
